Cynthia Hunt, Pianist
Cynthia Hunt, pianist, is a recent transplant to Colorado. Other residences include New York and North Carolina. A native of Kansas, she graduated from the University of Kansas where she studied piano with Angelica Morales von Sauer and Robert Ward. In New York her teacher was Jeaneane Dowis. Cynthia taught extensively until moving to Colorado and has performed in many capacities ranging from choral/vocal collaboration to chamber music ensembles. It is her great pleasure to work with Opera Fort Collins.
Juliana Espinosa, Soprano
Julianna Espinosa, originally from Louisiana, graduated with her Master’s in Music in 2021 at Loyola University in New Orleans and studied voice with Mrs. Luretta Bybee. She also graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with her Bachelor’s in Music performance, studying under Dr. Melissa Malde. She was in several UNC Opera theater productions, including the title role of the Countess from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and First Fairy in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen. She was cast as Beth in the opera Little Women by Mark Adamo during her time at Loyola University, however the performances were canceled due to COVID-19. Julianna has worked with opera companies including Opera Fort Collins, as well as Opera Classica in Germany, performing in various Opera choruses such as Verdi’s Nabucco, and Puccini’s Turandot. In addition to this, Julianna was a participant of Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artist Vocal Academy in 2018, and a Young Artist at SongFest in the summer of 2019. In January 2023 she made her debut at the New Orleans Opera as Doris Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird, a new opera by Daniel Schnyder, and Bridgette A. Wimberly.
Alejandro Izurieta, Tenor
Alejandro Izurieta, Ecuadorian tenor, has distinguished himself through his vocal brilliance and stylistic versatility. He has captivated audiences as Nemorino (L’Elisir d’Amore), Werther (Werther), Beppe (I Pagliacci), Ferrando (Così Fan Tutte), Anatole (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), Jupiter (Semele), etc. Recognized for both his lyric sensitivity and dramatic presence, he has appeared in recitals and concerts performing classical and popular repertoire throughout Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, and the United States.
Mr. Izurieta’s artistic collaborations include numerous engagements with Opera Colorado Chorus, Boulder Opera Company, and Central City Opera as a touring artist. He is also an accomplished drummer and director, further showcasing his multifaceted musicianship.
Currently, Izurieta is pursuing a Performance Certificate in Voice at the University of Denver. With a commitment to musical excellence and a passion for dynamic and compelling storytelling, he continues to broaden his repertoire and reach new audiences.
As a multilingual performer, Izurieta is committed to intercultural projects and values the transformative power of music to connect and unite communities. His artistry is shaped by a deep respect for operatic tradition balanced with contemporary interpretation.
