Who Are We and What Do We Do?

The mission of Opera Fort Collins Guild is to support and to raise awareness of Opera Fort Collins through fundraising, community outreach, and volunteerism.

We are an active support organization of more than 40 dedicated volunteers who meet on the first Monday of the month to plan upcoming projects. We host three of our own fundraising events and assist with three events put on by the Opera Fort Collins Board of Directors. In between the major events, we’re always finding ways to help and promote OFC, whether picking up an opera singer at DIA, providing housing during opera rehearsals, helping schlep stage sets to the theaters, assisting the costumer, hosting a BBQ for the cast, or serving as lobby greeters before the large opera performance. There is no shortage of ways to get involved!

By the way, we have a lot of fun and host a members-only party now and again.

We invite you to be a part of the Fort Collins fine arts scene by joining the Opera Fort Collins Guild!

OFC Guild History

The OFC Guild was founded in 1999 in response to a request from noted local opera mover & shaker Charles Ralph for a cadre of volunteers to help with fundraising, publicity, and community outreach. Judy Lovaas organized the OFC Guild and served as its first President.

OFC Guild Sponsored Events

Established in 2008 and modeled after New York City’s “Opera on Tap,” you are invited to join this casual two-hour monthly arias performance. Held at a local tavern on the last Sunday of each month (except December), this is the Guild’s prime outreach event. Both established and aspiring artists perform operatic standards and Broadway tunes at Fort Collins’ popular Avogadro’s Number Restaurant. Opera every month – what could be better? [more...]

Songs in Summer

This lavish garden party is held annually on the first Thursday of August at the artful home and grounds of a private residence. Wine, beer, and decadent hors d'oeuvres provide the backdrop for strolling and conversation. An al fresco arias concert that features established and emerging opera stars concludes a delightful afternoon. The largest of the Guild’s fundraising events, the proceeds go to the company to assist with its annual productions. Are you an organizer extraordinaire? A hands-on helper? A creative decorator? This is the event for you!
